The Navy has a requirement to secure Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E) stored in Earthen Covered Magazines (ECM). To insure ECM access is limited to authorized personnel, approaches to ECM doors are monitored by a variety of sensors including cameras. For safety reasons ECMs are usually located in remote wooded sections of military reservations. Typically, wildlife is prevalent in such locations and the movement of wildlife and foliage, as well as weather changes, results in security forces responding to many false alarms and nuisance situations. The contractor will mature an Ultra Wideband based radar proof-of-concept system into a prototype product to detect, track, and classify Items of Interest as they approach ECM doors.
